It’s amazing how many different ways a name can end up getting spelled, especially online. Most people searching for a particular person or place - but not knowing how to spell the name - usually try to ballpark it, typing in their best approximation and hoping for the best.
And who can blame them? If you don’t know, you don’t know (though hopefully you’ll remember after the first time you find said person). But it’s still interesting to see all the different names that pop up.
Take Ingrid Bergman. Her name has been variously typed online as Ingrid Bergmann, Ingred Bergman, Ingrid Bergmon, Ingred Bergmon (that one’s REALLY off), Ingrid Bergmen and more. They all sound roughly the same, so who’s to blame the perpetrators much?
Needless to say, that actress’ name is Ingrid Bergman. No double n, no o’s. Ingrid Bergman. Remember it and move on.
